Surgery Hours
Our fees
Children (under 10 years old) £40 per session.
Typically most patients need between two and six sessions (your chiropractor will advise), initially at weekly intervals, then gradually more widely spaced out, by which time a noticeable change should have occurred, though chiropractic care may continue for longer.
The number of follow-up treatments you may need depends a lot on how well you follow the aftercare and lifestyle advice given by your chiropractor. Once the problem has been resolved, regular check-ups are recommended to keep your body functioning well.
Cancellations
Please note that if you cancel your booking with less than 24 hours notice you may still be charged.
What to Expect from Your First Session
Karen will first assess your general health, previous conditions and existing symptoms. She will then conduct a physical examination to locate the problem, during which time she will make adjustments using the light, dexterous techniques associated with the McTimoney technique.
If at any point Karen discovers or suspects a condition that requires medical intervention, she will refer you to your GP for further tests.
Please bring with you details of any medication you are taking.
If possible please wear loose, comfortable clothing such as gym wear. It may be necessary for you to remove some clothing in which case a privacy gown will be provided if desired.
Aftercare Advice
During a course of chiropractic care, you can expect to feel physical changes as your body realigns. By practising simple but consistent aftercare you will help yourself to recover more quickly and maximise the benefits of your chiropractic treatment.
How will I feel after Treatment?
You may feel better straight away, or you might experience stiffness or tiredness, particularly after your first session. These effects should last no more than 48 hours and are signs that your body is responding well to treatment.
After each session, drink plenty of water and rest as much as possible. It is important that you talk to your chiropractor if you feel worried about anything either during or after treatment.
What can I do to help myself?
Your body needs 48 hours to adjust to the changes that have been made so it’s sensible to adhere to the following:
- Avoid strenuous exercise, housework, gym visits, gardening and long distance journeys
- Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol
- Take lukewarm showers for a couple of days. A hot soak will soften muscles and ligaments, potentially undoing all your good work
- Think about your balance. Avoid carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder, or sitting with one leg crossed over the other
- Following any other specific advice your chiropractor has given you
